The Parkway Shopping Centre have officially launched their Christmas Charity Campaign in partnership with Mission Christmas – TFM Cash for Kids.

The organisations have joined forces for the third consecutive year running, to collect and distribute toys generously provided by the Middlesbrough shoppers, to children in the Teesside area.

The radio roadshow will be on site at the busy shopping centre on Friday 29th November, with the aim of filling the Mission Christmas van with all the donated gifts.

Zoe France, Centre Manager: “We normally fill around eight boxes of toys every year. We have a collection box positioned outside Poundland for donations of unwrapped Christmas presents, but we want to collect more presents than ever before.  This year Tesco & Bentley’s Coffee Shop have come onboard to raise awareness for the collection and raise additional funds, so we’re hopeful we can exceed last year’s total”.

Michelle Yarnell, Tesco Store Manager added: “We’re thrilled to be part of a very important campaign. It’s heart breaking to think there are so many children in our locality that get very little or nothing on Christmas Day.  Volunteers will be bag packing in Tesco on the 29th November to raise funds to purchase more presents, so any donations would be gratefully received”.

Emily Bentley, co-owner at Bentley’s Coffee Shop said: “We have helped fundraise for a few charities since we opened earlier this year and the Cash 4 Kids appeal is another charity that is close to our hearts. The team decided to spend the voucher won at the recent Parkway Centre Halloween pumpkin competition on toys for the appeal and, in addition, we’ve decided to donate all tips received in November and the Directors top up whatever’s raised to a round sum. We can’t wait to see all the toys in the collection box for the appeal.”

Charity Manager, Aimee Littlefair at Cash 4 Kids explains: It’s my experience that people really want to help those less fortunate, especially at Christmas time, but the difficultly is often finding areas where people can come together to collect items. Having the Parkway Shopping Centre and Tesco supporting us, will make a massive difference to the numbers of gifts we receive and help us reach more children and give them a better Christmas.
