The centre’s One Great Day charity event, takes place every year and raises money for Great Ormond Street Hospital with this year’s local charity being JPC Community Farm. The sunny Saturday event was the culmination of months of planning to bring stunning super cars and motorbikes which were located around the outside of the shopping centre so visitors could see the luxury cars up close and personal.

Zoe France explains; “It’s been amazing, both our charities and our retailers have benefited from this event with footfall up on the day by 30% and raising over £2000 for good causes”.

Zoe continues “The kid’s faces on the day were priceless, We wanted to demonstrate we value being at the heart of the community, even though we are fully let, we wish to continue to grow and offer our visitors something new. Having received such positive feed-back we are in the process of reviewing our external space and hoping to introduce a bi -monthly Artisan Market”.

Retailer Craig Housbey at CH Watch Repairs said;” We were proud to be involved in what

was indeed a great day. I was really busy with lots of enquiries into what services I offer and my prices. To think the centre also raised loads of money means it’s a

win win situation for everyone involved”.

The magnificent motors were provided by JPC along with motorbikes provided by Crown MCC who were both delighted at the opportunity of working with the Parkway to put on such a large event for the people of Middlesbrough.

Paul Connaughton from JPC said “This was the first time we have showcased super cars at a shopping centre. People were blown away by the spectacle and it was fantastic to be part of the centre’s special day and help raise money for great causes”.

Popular children’s characters, Peppa Pig & Marshall, joined the crowds in the sunshine, with families enjoying the bouncy castle, face painting, glitter tattoos and an artisan market for those wanting something a little bit different. Tenants of the centre were also able to offer giveaways, such as free eye tests and free swimming and gym passes.

The event even offered a great opportunity to local lad and keen follower of all thing’s super cars, Isaac Galley, who runs his own popular Instagram page – supercarsofteesside. The schoolboy spent the day being the official photographer of the supercars, meeting with the car owners and getting an access all areas pass, to really document the event.

“I’ve had an amazing day and everybody’s been really nice” explained Isaac. “I couldn’t believe it when Zoe from the Parkway got in touch with my Mum and said she wanted my help. It’s a dream come true”.

The lucky lad did such a great job JPC have invited him to be their VIP at the next supercars event, which takes place on Saturday 17th August 2019 at Wynyard Hall.
